HARRIETSHAM FERRET RESCUE

Harrietsham Ferret Rescue was started by Roy and Chris Wilson about 9 years ago.  They took on a ferret from someone they knew to calm him down.  As Roy has been around ferrets most of his life he is very good at handling them.  The ferret in question became very calm and Roy decided to keep him.  This started their ferret rescue and it has grown over the years.  They now have over 150 ferrets with most of them looking for new homes.  As Roy and Chris love the ferrets they find it hard to turn away any that come their way whether they have been found by members of the public, left behind after they have been used to get rabbits or not looked after properly.

Little Merlin was just one of the many ferrets taken in who was in a very bad condition when he arrived.  After lots of TLC he is now fit and well.  This is what it’s all about – giving the ferrets a good life - thats what counts.

As Roy and Chris are self supporting, the only way they receive any monies to help is from public donations and doing shows or parties throughout the year.  At the shows they race the ferrets down pipes and people are allowed to place bets to see which ferret will come out first.  It is fun for the ferrets and fun for everyone to watch. There are a few different sorts of races, they have singles and pairs but now and again Roy will throw a spanner in the works and have three or four ferrets ready to go through the pipes.  He will also do a relay which is very hectic but lots of fun.

Come and meet the ferrets at the Kent County Fair where there will be experienced owners on hand to help with advice and talk to you about their care and welfare.  You will also be able to get ‘hands on’ with these lovable furry friends.
